3 reasons you should watch this space, and 1 reason you shouldn’t

Not interested in success as a blogger, entrepreneur, or human being? You’re right: this website is definitely not for you.

AS I TYPE THESE WORDS, it’s -30 degrees celsius outside.

It’s hard to be motivated on the cold, grey days we get so often in the North. But as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, the sunny weather will arrive.

Life is like that. There are good days and bad. I don’t care much for the Winter, but hibernation isn’t an option for me. (Yet!)

So I do what needs to be done, always remembering that Summer is on the horizon.

Is what you are doing today a reflection of what you want to be doing tomorrow?

A simple and obvious enough question. But is it true for you?

Or are you just making things up as you going along, like so many others?

The question is:

Are you living intentionally?

That’s what this blog is about, and if the thought of living with intention intrigues you, this is the first reason you should watch this space.

But there’s more.

I would also like to use this space to fulfill a life-long passion of mine. Maybe it’s a passion of yours, too. I call this

Creativity through Community

It’s a simple idea: our best selves emerge when we are part of something bigger.

You see, I am (among other things) a writer. I’ve also been a musician and an artist.

So my whole life has been about creating energizing spaces for interesting people.

I’ve started magazines. I’ve hosted readings. I podcast. For years, my dining-room table was a gathering place of artists and philosophers and academics.

But it’s not only artists who create. Anyone can make something that contributes to the world in a good way.

Entrepreneurs create jobs and products and happy customers. Parents create future healthy and active citizens. (Well, we can hope.)

My point is, if being part of an interesting and creative community interests you, then that’s reason #2 to watch this site.

Because you’re just the kind of person I want to get to know.

And the final reason is…

It’s taken me a long time to get here. I worked hard for many years in a number of jobs. I read a lot of books on business and success. I interviewed hundreds of amazing people, to see if I could learn their secrets. (“Steal” is more like it!)

And yet, it took me decades to see what was right in front of my face.

There I was wondering what I could do that would help me pay the bills and leave me time to pursue my passions. Does this sound familiar?

Sure it does. That’s what most of us are spending our lives chasing.

That’s because we ask What? And What? is the wrong question, or at least it was for me.

The right question, in turns out, is Why?

So I bought a blank journal, and I wrote down the answer to the question Why?

I was brutally honest, digging way deeper than “To pay the bills” or “Because that’s what people do.” When I was finished, I had ten pages of small print.

And from those ten pages I created a road map for the rest of my life.

I’m not saying it’s easy, but if you dig down to the bottom of the question Why? then you’ll have a clearer sense of what you should be doing. Guaranteed.

And the fact is, I spent most of my life not really taking this question seriously.

That’s reason #3 to watch this space: tough questions.

I’ve learned a lot by asking them, and you will too.

This site will feature not only what I’ve learned over the past five decades, both in life and business, but what others have learned as well.

I’ll be reaching out to every interesting, dynamic and successful person out there, bringing their practical insight to this page.

So subscribe, follow, and email me. And watch this space for the official launch, which I’ll be announcing in March.

Sincerely,

-Wayne.
